Inside & Outside Mount
What is the difference between inside and outside mounted blind?
The main difference between inside mount and outside mount blinds is where they are installed in relation to the window frame:
Inside mount
Installed within the window frame or the boxed drywall structure around the window. Inside mount blinds are usually flush with the window’s opening and don’t cover the window trim.
Outside mount
Installed on the outside of the window frame, often covering the window trim or molding. Outside mount blinds can be mounted directly on top of the window trim or on the wall above or to the sides of the window frame.
Here are some things to consider when deciding between inside and outside mount blinds:
 Window box depth
Inside mount blinds require a window box depth of at least 1/2”
Look
Inside mount blinds can create a clean, streamlined look and are a good choice for small rooms and modern decor. Outside mount blinds can offer more privacy and better light control.
 Window frame
Inside mount blinds are a good choice if you want to highlight your window frame or other architectural details.
